Get your first recommendation

Choose a place and describe your run to get one outfit recommendation.

Layer needs three things to prepare a recommendation: where you plan to run, when you plan to go, and what the run will ask of you.

You do not need an account, Strava, or a saved kit to begin.

Choose a place

Use your current location or search for a city. Layer needs a place so it can fetch local weather. You can search for a city if you do not want to grant location access.

Describe the run

Set when you plan to start, how long you expect to run, and the intensity you have in mind. Layer interprets the conditions across that run, not just the weather at the start.

If your plans change, update those details. The recommendation will adjust with them.

Read the recommendation

Layer gives you one outfit recommendation and a short explanation of how the conditions are likely to feel through the run. The goal is a decision you can use, not a forecast you have to decode.

If you have not added your gear, Layer recommends general garment types. Once you add items to your kit, recommendations can name the gear you actually own.

The web app offers a shorter, ungated version of this experience. The iOS app adds your kit, run log, feedback, account sync, and the rest of the ongoing Layer experience.
